Software Engineer


The organisation work on open source intelligence across defence equipment, military capabilities, security and defence budgets, markets and forecasts. The inter-connectivity of their structured data, insight and analysis enables them to provide our customers with the unique insights they need to make more impactful decisions. They work with governments, NGOs, aerospace and defence organisations. They deal with open source data; you won't be working on classified projects and security clearance is not required.


C#, .NET, Web API, MVC, .NET Core, Vue.js, Knockout, Cloud Technologies

Location: Based Near Croydon. Commutable From Croydon, Banstead, Tadworth, Purely, Brinkey, Dulwich, Balham, Earlsfield and surrounding locations

What will I do?

The software engineer will join a dedicated, cross-functional team in an agile environment. The software engineer will be in one of their three feature teams made up of six individuals (developers and tester's), helping to:

  • Build customer facing applications to Jane's connected data including the web application, web services, offline data flows and support workflows
  • Liaise with internal departments including product management and analyst teams
  • Aid transition to the cloud
  • Support and drive our agile processes
  • Ensure best practices in quality-first development including test automation, continuous integration and automatic deployments in all environments (dev ops)
  • Perform other duties as required

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience and interest working with a variety of technologies and at different levels in 'the stack'
  • Experience with C#, .NET, Web API, MVC, SQL
  • Experience with TDD
  • Strong collaboration skills that will allow you to work effectively alongside a cross-functional team
  • Openness to offer and hear opinions and willingness to advocate your approach
  • You will also need to appreciate the value of compromise and teamwork. Putting the team first in order to make the greatest impact.
  • A track record of self-directed contributions to large and challenging projects
  • Real world experience of refactoring and modernising code as well as working on greenfield projects
  • Willingness to participate in all parts of the software development life cycle. With relatively small agile teams, we believe a supportive, flexible and open-minded approach leads to the best outcomes

We would love it if you have:

  • Experience with NoSQL or graph databases
  • Experience with any of Vue.js, Knockout, React, Angular, HTML 5, CSS or Node.js
  • .NET Core
  • Experience with cloud technologies; AWS or Azure
  • Proven experience helping to transform the development process and shape the code base
