I'm working with a Hertfordshire based, Software Solutions company that are looking to add a MYSQL Database Administrator to their team.

The Database Administrator responsibilities will include:

* Administration of MySQL databases including, but not limited to optimisation, backup & restore, migration, upgrade, monitoring, tuning, database cloning & replication, and patching.
* Implement clustered or other high availability configurations, including failover procedures.
* Identify and resolve performance problems with database systems, collaborating with software engineering teams.
* Work with IT Security team to ensure data security for all database environments
* Author best practices documentation for other Database Administrators.
* Maintaining services to standard of customers SLA's and Road Tech policy.
* Dealing with system failures as and when these occur.

Skills required for the role:

* Strong proficiency in large MySQL database management
* Demonstrable experience with recent versions of MySQL
* Understanding of MySQL's underlying storage engines, such as InnoDB.
* Experience with replication configuration in MySQL
* Knowledge of gold standards and best practices in MySQL
* Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements
* Knowledge of MySQL features, such as its event scheduler
* Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications
* Familiarity with other SQL/NoSQL databases.
* Knowledge of limitations in MySQL and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases
* Organised and Methodical approach.
* Exhibit a flexible approach to working and provide necessary cover where needed.
* Experience in Linux operating systems and bash scripting.

The company are offering up to £55,000 for the right candidate and are open to flexible working (3 days in office, 2 days from home and visa versa)

The office is based within Hertfordshire so you must be in a commutable distance to do the journey 2-3 times per week.
