Corporate Social Responsibility is really about our core values and principles that govern the way we operate at Understanding Recruitment. We are committed to honesty and transparency in all communications with our stakeholders - whether you’re a candidate, client or employee. (This is reflected on our Glassdoor profile where we have achieved 'OpenCompany' status as a result of embracing transparency within our business).

We aim to create a balance between the development of opportunities with our clients/candidates, stimulating and rewarding our staff, working with and supporting our local communities and sustaining the environment in which we operate - This is an ongoing commitment.

ENVIRONMENT – We're conscious of our carbon footprint. From movement sensor controlled low energy lighting, segregated waste disposal, only printing essential documents and even ensuring we turn all PC's and monitors off at the end of the day (left on overnight equates to printing 800 x A4 sheets of paper!).

MARKETPLACE - Whilst ensuring the highest standards of ethical business practice, we’re proud to have been presented with a number of industry awards for being the ‘thought leaders’ in our market around our 'Customer Satisfaction Strategy'. Our NPS (Net Promoter Score) surveys that we implemented allow us to truly understand our clients and candidates needs and expectations. We strive for constant improvement of our 'Customer Satisfaction Strategy' throughout all stages of the recruitment process and continue to be recognised as leaders in customer satisfaction.

WORKPLACE - We understand the value and importance of training and development, so this is why all of our employees have a clear career path with promotion criteria laid out from the start. Currently the vast majority of our team managers have been a result of organic internal growth. Our staff perks range from free gym membership, free parking, summer BBQ's, Friday night drinks, industry leading bonuses, the ability to contribute to our yearly company 'Strategy Day' and the endless rewards that 'Perkbox' offers, plus more. For those above target, we offer international winners trips and quarterly Directors lunches at some of London's finest restaurants.

COMMUNITY – Internal recruitment is a big focus as the company grows and this gives local graduates the opportunity to come and work for us. Additionally, we have an excellent apprenticeship scheme which provides an opportunity to gain an NVQ in Business Administration from the local and very reputable Oaklands College. (One of our apprentices went on to win 'Best Newcomer' in REC's IRP Awards 2014 and was also 'Highly Commended' for 'Most Inspiring Newcomer' at the Investing in Talent Awards 2015). Where possible, we like to use local businesses for services such as printing company literature and branded products.

Every year, as a business and as individuals, we are keen to be involved with fun and exciting ways of raising money for our chosen charities. In the past, we've got stuck in with the Herts 10K and Nuclear Races to name just a couple.

For 2017 we headed to the Scottish Highlands to run, cycle and kayak across 105 miles in just 2 days for what made an incredibly tough challenge. We went with our highest fundraising target to date of £5,000 for Cancer Research UK. We are also raising money for Keech Hospice Care and Willow Foundation with slightly smaller events throughout the year.
